Biography

I don't know how to biographise or autobiographise or anything of the like.
I'm Bethan, but I'm not Welsh as yet. I'm 21, and plan to stay this way and I live in the North West of Ingerland, currently Cheshire but I have scooted about Merseyside and Manchester as well.
I study which is a bit of a disappointment to me but apparently its enriching my life and will make things wondrous in the future.
Watch this space.

Also, I am not a cat but it would be great if I was.

The only man who shares my bed, is sexier than I'll ever be
and a man's man, if you know what I mean.
So just because I took some other home, doesn't mean
What you want it to.
Sometime's its time to shut up and stop caring.

My friend told me I posess the foundations of this building,
I told him to fuck off.
Your friend told me you're afraid of crowds,
queues and clowns?
What the fuck are you doing here?

He said she said you said that I said,
something
I said you said she said that he said
Do I even know you?

The only man who shares my bed is sexier than I'll ever be,
Maybe it's time to start caring?

Zaduski**

The strength of Catholicism
is catching.
The hostel surreptitiously offers drinks,
As if breaking the law.

Not the best time for a holiday,
Where blackness permeates the air.
Kościoły emit screams of souls,
There’s a haughty guilt haunting
The native pedestrians.

This is the oldest church in Krakow,
It sits in the square, surrounded by pigeons,
Pecking at dust.
There is nobody, no lights, grey rain,
Closed for religious holiday.

Could never have known the strength
Of Zaduszki,
Of visiting the fateful dead and
Forgetting the faithful living.

We’re just passing not staying,
Not that you’d notice.

**Zaduski - a Polish tradition of lighting candles (znicze) and visiting the graves of the relatives on All Souls Day.

Moral of the story: Don't go to Poland at the beginning of November if you expect anything to be open kids!

I live nearer the Wash than the Grime-sby ;) But maybe I'll yet stagger back to Yorkshire - it's a bit flat here in the fens. Our garden in Sheffield sloped more than the entire village here....

Hehe - I've always been rather torn between the Scottish roots and the Yorkshire roots of my family - so I compromised and live in Lincolnshire, lol. ;)

I like your style Bethan - even though I'm not yet Welsh either ;)

Best wishes

Hi Bethan
If you are 21 you are less than half of my age. Reading your poems I canot help thinking you are more than twice as wise as me. Liked your observations which seemed to string together so naturally. some quirky unexpected images there. Great stuff
Winston
P.S. I have had 13 cups of coffee and Zero cups of tea in my life so far... I hate tea also

Bethan, you're a natural, get out there and do it. There's plenty of support as Jefferama says. Newcomers always welcome.

Hi Bethan, I would say there's something special about anypne who sticks there neck out doing this! Only been doing it a few months and I feel a bit that way after a few performances!

Like the stuff you've done here and look forward to more (love the Smiths and I've just been watching the Specials with my mates Mcr band the Naughtys thats why this is late!). I work in Moss Side funnily enough but live in Bolton. I've done about half a dozen poetry gigs and its really good fun if a bit nerve-wracking at first!

I will be at the Green Room on 17th and the Salutation on 24th (thats a quiet one for starters)if you fancy any of them, I'll give you some moral support! Anyway, hope this helps, cheers Jeff x
