Biography

Hi, I'm Jeff from Bolton, I started writing earlier this year and have finally put into words some of the things in my mind! Some need a health warning!!

This is partly because I have spent all my life going to gigs - anything from the Clash to Pink Floyd, you name it, I might have been there!! You will see a musical theme here and there!

Talking of gigs!!! -

I try to write about experiences and things that I am passionate about. Some of it is deep, some of it lighthearted, and some of it topical or reflecting personal experience in my life.

I love getting feedback on my work so thanks for that - that adds to the enjoyment of writing. I also get a great deal out of reading everyone's work and comment every time I can. It's a great website too!! If you're not a member please write to jeffinbolton@yahoo.com - thanks!

I've performed at poetry nights in Bolton, Wigan, Middleton, Manchester and Hebden Bridge - love it! MC at Wigan and recently at the Soundhouse - It's great fun, again thanks for the support, it's been great to meet you all! Cheers, Jeffarama!

Samples

I know you're there

People here, people there,
some are dark,
some are fair,
people like him and her
they're just about everywhere!

People who
stop and stare
people who
go nowhere
people who
go here and there
people who
don't know they're there!

People who
know what to wear
people who
have coloured hair
people who
have got no hair
people who
have more than their fair share!

People who
look and glare
people who
shout and swear
people who
wouldn't dare
people who
don't fuckin' care!

People, yes people
I know you're there.....

The Sea

Ruler of the Earth
since time began,
for millions of years
before dinosaurs and man.

An awesome force
it bombards our shores,
the beaches men landed,
in sadder times of war.

The sea holds mysteries
that cannot be solved,
forever present
as mankind evolves.

Creating life
but taking lives,
a search for answers
we relentlessly strive.

Generations will pass
but the sea will remain,
the tide coming in
again and again.

The sea is a dream
for you and for me,
and visible from the stars
for the universe to see.

November eleventh

solemn, we stand in line

the crowds fall silent

bells start to chime

Rememberence Day

the parade is in view

we show our respect

it's the least we can do

Marching Bands play

they tread the same route

poppies are laid

the soldiers salute

The veterans return

year after year

battle scars of war

too painfully clear

They saved our nation

in those darkest hours

we feel their pride

we hope they feel ours

When the curtain calls

for the vallant and brave

they will be remembered

by all who they saved

So spare a quiet moment

for those women and men

for the loved ones we lost,

who we won't see again.

Jefferama! Thanks for the comment on the serious stuff - I feel happier with the sarcasm but aware I look like a bit of a bitch taking the mick all the time. The next one will probably be about necrophillia. Delivered in the style of a spanish nun.

Dear Jeff,

Thank you for your wonderful comments on my poetry. We seem to be kindred spirits, and yeah, despite our mistakes, we have to move on. We cannot stand still.

I look forward to reading more of your work. Take care.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your comments about Re-awoken. You are dead right about using "for" instead of "to" and in fact it said that on the original handwritten version.

And yes it does suffer a little from cliches. Seems that "being in love", being something of a cliche itself, causes an overdose of cliches. I can see I may have a bit of a battle against them or I could just embrace them and do something fun with them.

Anyway Jeff, thanks

I really did go for a meal with my family.
If you take a look at Tara J Mendes.
My little secret's out of the bag.
At least
( I think ) that's what the first poem was about in "honour" of me. The second one?
Well, maybe one day i'll find out for sure.

Sorry it took so long to reply.
Hope your gig organizing is going smoothly.

thanks for the comment on 'Wrong Text Message' - lot could be said there.. I'll tell you it over a pint sometime! But thankfully the bump has gone! Jeff, you always take the time to read our work and I'm happy to see you developing in your confidence and writing. I enjoy your work especially because of your musical passions. I am more inspired by good song lyrics than poetry, but then I think good song lyrics are poetry. I think that quality musicians and bands have a lot going for them in terms of poetic influence. Take Roger Waters for example.

Thank you for your kindness and sincerity and understanding.

Its of no surprise that you have so much love here Jeff.

Look forward to seeing you soon. I may get t the green rooms this Thursday.

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for your comments on my poem. Like you I'm relatively new to writing, and I'm exploring new avenues all the time.

I did think that the ZXombie poem was rather short, so thank you for confirming this for me.

I live and work in Japan and like more and more countries around the world, people are just sooo busy and can't see the wood for the trees, this is what my poem is about, if you hadn't guessed already.

I really like your poems, keep up the good work.

Good Day, Jeff

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Yes, I agree your poem was showing rather the Life Circle in your poem. It was wonderfully done... In my write I was trying to express the music the Tunes that we hear looking at Nature in general, with a relaxation in mind.

Thank you and have a great new week!!

Alreet Jeffo... Sunday was a good night. Nay, Sunday was a fine night and one to be recorded in the annuls of WOL folklore.
As far as tribute bands go - I'm afraid I don't do tribute bands. As good as they are, they're not the real McCoy. The Stanglers are inimitable. If I heard a tribute band I wouldn't be able to get the concept of 'Jive Bunny' or 'Stars on 45' out of my head.
It's the boys themselves or nothing for me. If you're going in October/ November let me know. I usually get to a couple of gigs in and around the North West. Although Dublin would be a good one?

Somewhere outside Tokyo invented time.
Someone with a million watches invented time...
