Biography

You can,t please all of the people all the time, all I can say is, thank heavens I can please some-and with that intention in mind, play on-Life!

Samples

night walk

passing through the dark liquidity of night
bewitched tree, high silhouetted and solemn rooted
ravaged by winters indiscriminate cruelty
reaches to merge with last dregs of angel light

blackening without submission
clouds close in stormy denial
winds swirl and dance mischeiviously in the shadow gloved
scenery
ambushing without warning,my unsteady progress

curse! but his blast only intensifies, repeating his torment
dull eyed,enforced piteous creatures,disturbed
dumbly witness your division of them
the pitying heart can only shepard them into a safe dream

rain,needles penetratingly,slants across the vision
filling sockets of worn earth
shiny patched trackstones,altering each step
to the last

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love that needs sugaring

because my love  is sweetness itself.

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love

that just happened to be floating by,in my mind.

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love

somebody else threw in my face, for re-use.

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love

spouted from drunken lips.

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love

beaded in sexual sweat.

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love

worded in a tear-jerking song.

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love

bought by money.

So yes,I do love you

but it won,t be a love

other than mine...the one,you brought to life....perfect!

Thank you so much steph for your feedback...the thing is with me i have very little knowledge regarding poetry i have never studied it and i only own one book titled < national year of reading 2008..a poem for every day of the year> but it is something i enjoy doing and it all comes fresh from my head so no influence from anywhere just my own original stuff. i do not understand the pros and cons of poetry language so i suppose i am doing ok so far ? i am going to put a blog on now it is one i wrote away back in the eighties around the band aid time.. appreciate feedback on it thanks...lv berniexx

hi steph ive just read larisas..the sea..and really enjoyed it as i love the sea myself and it was so discriptive and well thought out...when you say about mine..lifes puzzle...we can only get better does that mean it is not good. dont realy know where the thought came from when i do my poems they come into my head and then are done very quickly it all seems to just flow through my mind. when i wrote cheeky monkey i did it whilst my friend was in the shower ! no more paint brushes for me for a while so no fear of me bringing one onto he sight ha ha! would appreciate another comment from you regards my poem so i understand what you mean..thanks lv herbedaceous !xx

Hi and thanks for stuff about two of your fave poems. The Seigfried Sassoon one was so moving, and always so true, death just pops up and takes who he feels like taking. But the other one, The Hill was my fave. So beautiful - I wish I could write something like that. Heavenly. I've started buying llots of second hand poetry books online and I've ordered a Rupert Brooke book. And . . on a more cheerful note - I've just got a three CD set of eighties disco hits!!! That'll keep me going for It's Sunday so . . for years to come I should think! And I just wrote a sweet poem 4 you too. (Don't get too excited - it ain't a rude one!) So you are obviously in my good books - for how long - you decide as they say! Love youxxxxxx

Watched Room at the Top on youtube last night (in 12 nine minute bits!) Great film, though lawrence H's accent was pants. As for Simone, she was indeed lovely and very touching (just like wot I am!!! (Or do I mean very touchy!)) Poor her! But in the end, maybe it was more - poor him! Anyhow, thanks for inspiring me to see it. I'd better read the book now! I liked "This Sporting Life", similar thing only with rugby, I seem to remember! have a lovely day. How is your painting progressing? I did a three day life drawing class last week. Really enjoyed it. I'll leave you in peace for a few days now. ;-) xxxxxxxx

Yes, you are right, Max was a border collie, that's my fave pic of him. Regarding Charlie, we only had him 4 days so not sure I deserve a pat on the back for that! Got him last Saturday and swapped him for Benji on Tuesday. Certainly hope someone can sort him out. Do you have any pets now Stef? Thanks again for everything, love, Lynn xxx

Yes, we have our fourth rescue dog now (not all at once of course!) Hi Steffie - hope you had a LOVELY WEEKEND (oops! pressed the wrong THING!) Damn these new fangled computers! (Or these doddery old fingers!! ;-)) Thanks for kind comments on my last two (poems, not fingers!) The childhood one is based on snapshots of a family's life, things you just get to hear about and observe. Living in a village you often get to know about poeple you've never even spoken to. You don't have to be a gossip (I'm not, I don't think) but things filter through. I hope she'll be OK. Also, the fox - yes, she was lovely! I'm not going to be around much for a few days as my daughter is coming to stay (hooray!) Gemma says purr purr and thank you for all the kisses - and so do I. xx P.S. A lovely song 4 U. But it is sad. Now I'm crying too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmjmp0XEUxA

Hi Stefan, trust you had a nice weekend away, good to have you back.
You asked about Billie Davis, yes, I remember Tell Him but not much else about her. I think the gay tennis player is Billie Jean King, though that seems to be more in answer to Ann! Yes, I do like Angel of the Morning, how did you guess, lol. Been so long now you've probably forgotten asking!! ha ha.
Thank you for commenting on "Friendship", on Thursday I had one of those days where everything I said came out wrong!! Warmest wishes as always, Lynn xxx

Hmmm Billy Davis - I thought she was a gay tennis player - or was that Steve Davis ;-) But I remember that song sung by someone else in a kind of melodramatic way. (I don't mean I remember it in a melodramatic way! God! Shut up Ann!)Back to youtube later on then! Have a beautiful day xx

Oh bum, this is what I get for loosely basing these poems on my unpublished novel!!! The background is that he never really makes any serious money until after they marry when his talent is at last fully recognised. Her father doesn't approve of the match and writes her off completely. So what I didn't make clear enough is that they are both insisting on paying! In the poems though, this couple have only met a handful of times for between 20 seconds and 3 minutes, yet I have them snogging on meeting and shagging by sunset, yet this is too tame??!! I was tempted to ask what is wrong with "smiling", couldn't you imagine the rest? But now I concede it's too tame, Mr. hard task master,so going to do a bit of a re-write.
Thanks for all comments, as always.xxx

Hey S!
Mary Bell is a real person, my eye caught something on the net somewhere yesterday and hey presto... She served 12 years but when she came out she was given a new name etc and hidden and went on to have a child of her own.The two boys she killed were no more than babies really. I have a sort of sick fascination with killers i suppose! Neilson being very intriguing lol xx

Hi Stefan

Re your recent discussion thread comments (also posted there)

To try and answer your points

1) There are no plans to show more than the last 10 new members details.

2) Yes, absolutely... my coments after each new members name are usually just a summary (Or sometimes a direct copy) of their own profile details. The thinking being that this is a place where anyone can QUICKLY get a snapshot of what the last 10 new members are all about. Hopefully this will help in welcoming new members and make it more likely that others will look and make comments on their profile / blogs.

Do you think it works in this way?

wot i wrote earlier on discussion page. so i guess they're on their way! "Why don't you just have done with it and have an "Elitist Best Poems - took me ages" section where you can all put your perfectly handcrafted concoctions for our delectation and let the rest of us poem-addicts carry on writing and letting rip to our hearts content in our bit. I just feel offended by this idea that if you write more than one poem a week (or you're only happy with one poem a week) all that you do write must be of poor quality. Not so, IMO. xxxx"

Yes indeed... i have had concerns re: some of my output that has appeared here and there [most often only momentarily] may catch the eye of the G men and consequently getting whisked off in pretty much the same way as Judas Priest to the United Striates in some form of poetic show trial - such poems as "Terrorist Y-fronts", "The Anglo-Arabic Air Marshalls Phrase book" and somewhat closer to home the epic "I'm Mandy Fly Me" -they really aren't serving suggestions, but I'd suppose I'd probably have to say..." honest it's a fair cop gov "

Ahh, I can't tell you the meaning of life and love cos the online dicshunary said 'page not responding' BUT if it helps, the couch was motorised and I was skidding along the road on my bare bottom, serves me right I suppose for letting Mr.Rachel fit winged wheels to everything in the house with casters....you should see the piano go!Any road up, sorry to disappoint but I'm not bisexual, in fact at this time in the morning with me tatty dressing gown on and my hair stuck up and my face yet to fall back into place (think a pickled creature pressing it's snout against the specimen jar)I'm non-sexual...like Gloria Hunniford. Why does commenting on your page always make me go a bit surreal???
Happy February,Steffikins, I love February (it's nearly my birthday)

Hi Stefan, thanks for your comments. Its been a slow trudge to say the least. I know that there are those that dont agree with a lot of work i have done, but thankfully there are those who still make the effort to read and write comments. i just cannae understand it blue, i feel as if i been cursed for some time. anyways, before i go crying into my coffee, i need to ask, is the you in the respirater carrying the gat? i like your work by the way, problems with internet restrict me from making comments on most works i like. i keep having to rewrite the comments because my internet keeps kicking me off. Keep posting and writing. i enjoy your work, and need the input on mine.

thanks blue

Tue 19th Jan 2010 09:42

Hi Stefan,
re-my contribution to your suggestion of a compilation poem for Haiti....
The problem with ventures like this is that you didn't really ask for any kind of format so the verses would be difficult to arrange in some semblance of order.

I decided to insert some hope into it because of a news reel i saw yesterday where a lady has been found beneath the rubble and actually came out singing.

Winston tried to assemble something of a poem from the Yule blog in discussions. Take a look at it, it might give you some idea.
As for advice on poetry, don't ask me. I write it but need help too in the editing out of needless words and the odd phrase. :-)

Awww, cheers Stefan. They were so in love, two nights before he died, they slept in the same bed for the first time in weeks (he was sooo poorly), I say slept, they just lay there holding hands and one of the last lucid things he ever said was to my grandma, he turned to her, shook their hands together like a goal celebration or something and said "Looks like we won" bloody hell, I really have made myself cry now! Bloody cheap whisky!

Thank you for the comment on "Timeline". I wrote that poem just after the inauguration. I recently submitted it to a contest (ok to be prev. shared in this one), and updated it for a year after the fact. While I was re-writing, I decided to change the arrangement a bit. It works better than before. It is close to feeling "finished" now.
