Stella, you're a star

In the year 1366, Stella
Was first brewed in Leuven, Flanders, Belgium
In Britain it has been called ‘wife-beater’
A favourite tipple of violent chav scum
I sometimes buy it when the weekend comes
And drink it like a moron, getting pissed
Well, that’s what it’s for when all’s said and done
Especially when you know you won’t be kissed
Stella Artois comes high up in the list
Of famous beers exported all over
For centuries the horses pulled the drums
Along the rutted dusty tracks, through mist
And mud, the taverns full of fine fellas
Paying for troubles to be overcome
I know no-one's around right now, they're all out, doing things, but this sonnet is to commemorate Stella Artois, the Belgian beer - which incidentally is neither 'posh' (remember the ads, 'reassuringly expensive'?) nor the most popular lager in Belgium itself, but it hads always done well on the export market.

...le pub landlord with a bit of brewologist experience, once told me that UK 'under licence' Stella's brewed-up to an approximate alchoholic gravity in the 'factory' that's under it's actual listed specific gravity, and then proper shite one star brandy is added to bring it up to the standard munters strength... sounds about right I'd s'pose... Steller reassuringly f'kin yeurch.... bleurgh... ;)
