Acting or reading?

When writing and reading my poems, i feel the strong presence of mothers acting spirit near me.

I have always wondered if, in a slam, it is better to read your poem and let your words do most of the talking, only changed through the inflections of the voice; or if you should act as the poem is feeling...

For example, i have just written a sort of post apocalyptic prophecy sort of poem and i am wondering whether it should be delivered in a trance like way, building up to a climax, getting more and more frantic, or if i should just deliver it in a formal (if slightly dark) style.

Any opinions to his would be much appreciated,
Jordan

If you sense mothers acting spirit as you write, then surely it makes sense to allow mothers acting spirit to guide you on the night of your performance.
Or practice at home first in front of a mate.
Hope that helps. Janet.

Practice and practice, so you don;t really need the words but you know exactly where the change in tone needs to fall. Then read it with an artistic flourish.

Your somewhere between reading and acting then.

What would your mother do?
