Gypsy`s Tent November Review
Sunday 16th November WOL Gypsy’s Tent
We had another good turn out of poets this month with Paul Blackburn hurrying us along through the evening. Visitors from Hebden Bridge, Meriel Malone performed with great style and Winston Plowes read a sweet tender poem about his daughter. WOL regular Dave Morgan`s “Creative Writing” was an exceptional piece ,its in his Poets Blog read it. Darren Thomas took us expletively back to his past life as a copper. We extended a warm welcome to Alanna Rice who we haven’t seen for a while and. Tony McNeile and Paul Wright newcomers to the Bolton Gig. Two rounds of poetry was read plus Pete Crompton and Gordon Zola gave their usual adept performance. I enjoyed the evening but then I always do.
28 =attended
We asked for feedback, 15 forms where returned after the session..
Feedback
10 requesting Microphone Sound System
1 request for a Lectern
2 request a Spotlight
1 request for a Camcorder.
1 request for two poems each half
3 requests for a Theme evening
2 would like time limits set on poetry slots
2 wants no time limit to be set on poetry
2 for a warmer room
1 request for more intimate seating arrangements?
1 requests an upstairs bar
1 request for less banter more poems
1 enjoyed the poems and banter
2 stated it was perfect as it was.
1 request for a change of venue
Last WOL evening in October I suppose we where glad to have a home at all, after the Howcroft`s sudden closure, but now I feel unsure about making this our permanent home, how do you poets feel about this ?

Hi Val,
Im sorry I nibbled the rubber from the HB
and also that I failed to complete the feedback form.
Heres the Peter C Feedback.
and increase in room temperature if possible
enquire into pricing to staff the bar upstairs, ill contribute
microphone
spotlight
transportable stage system, or a soap box. just so you kinda have an elevated focal point
I liked the stained glass affair, however it does draw the focus a little, not sure whether i liked it or not, it was warm but cold at same time
maybe we need to get used to the room
the seating needs to be made into an arc, it seemed scattered
I fully appreciate the difficulties in finding a venue
Gypsy tent aint bad but it aint the best either
with the bar open, im wondering actually if this may create a distraction as its so close to the performance space, tricky
most of all however I'm thnakful and appreciative of Yours and Johns efforts to provide us with any platform to read. That is the most important thing, you giving time to help and organise these things, that overwhelms any little 'niggly' things about the venue.
So a big thanks from me and I'm sure I speak on behalf of us all
Well done WOL , Val and John
we can just keep building

Could we not immerse Rob Goodier into a giant sized bag of Dry-Roasted peanuts and listen to the noise it makes as he clambers out. I bet it's nowhere near as loud as the noise coming from the regular sized bag that he was eating from during the performances.
I think he thought I was going to take them off him he was eating them that quick! >8-]
Overall Val, I not too sure either about the Gypsy's Tent.
It's too far away from what people are familiar with at the Howcroft. The table layout. The lighting. Unobstructed views. The Howcroft had its faults but it did have that 'something', that spark. Having said that, they said that about Burnden Park. It doesn't take long to get bedded in.
Next time, bring nuts for Rob Ga-hood-ia.
Hi Thank Hayou.

Hi Val
No fedback from me either so -
1) Felt no need for mic or spotlight
2) bar slow downstairs
3) limit peoples time. With such a good turnout 2 spots of 1 poem is the only way, with a limit of 5 mins each. OR 1 spot in the second half only of 7 min or so as quite a few people only want to read once.
4) Let's just be grateful of the platform we have to read on.
5) thanks for your comments on my "sweet tender" poetry. More gritty stuff on the way however !
6) didn't like the stained glass gaudy things in the ceiling, but see 4
Cheers
Winston
