Hebden Bridge, March
How right you are Cayn. A sombre mood perhaps but the cause of that was some impressively powerful poetry, your group series with Meryl, Winston and Sean playing a very major part. The performers all put so much of themselves into their work and as usual none more so than Peter Crompton who's poem Dreams of Leaving deserves a much, much wider audience.
I do remember a good few laughs along the way and there was indeed a great variety for us all to enjoy. Sean's compering was superb as usual.
During the night my emotions were tugged, I was amused, my thoughts were provoked and I was thoroughly reminded why I enjoy these nights so much.
A brilliant night out.
The best night? Probably, but perhaps only until the next night.

For some reason, I decided last night to read out a couple of my poems that have serious (even 'sombre') themes. I spoke to someone at the end of the night who suggested that as the HB night matures in its new venue, there is a build up of trust amongst those who are becoming regulars. This means that some of the poetry being read had more personal, and therefore more serious, themes.
Personally, I was just in a shitty mood.
It was a good night, though.
