Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

Reach out poets reach out

Reach out poets reach out
There in your community
Reach out just reach out
Set free their creativity

----------------------

In my day time job I work with the communities Old Trafford. Part of that is setting up projects empower individuals or groups. For my own part I have three peotry coffee morning/ workshops .ready and about to start working with an organisation callled 'Bluesci'

Both these are also chances to promote Writeoutloud and nurture poetry in general.

There is talent as this site ny the truck load, so should we reach out within our communities?

I vote .yes

cheers

Phil

I agree totally. One of the main things said to me after LitaBury was 'I never knew that was poetry'. It's taught in such an awfully boring way in schools that people get put off and it's seen as a hoity toity pursuit to write. I was also very chuffed on the day that people like Chris Gibson got up and read out their poems.

I'm not allowed this year due to my bursary restrictions (boo!) but I also do a lot of voluntary drama, singing and creative writing workshops at Streetwise.

Poetry and the arts in general can be very liberating for people, allowing them to express themselves in new ways and turn negative past experience into a positive outcome.

And off my soap box now, I could go on all day........haha!

Hi Gemma

I am SURE I am not being to BOLD to say that your soap box wil be whiter that white, even at 30o.

Thanks for the come back.

As with all life experiences I believe in giving back what I get out of it. So yes i think its a great idea to put something back.
into the system.

I take my hat off to everyone who, like yourself, has put back.

Could this be an area for development for fellow poets and or WOL? Further partnership work?

Thats a good area to take this discussion!

So who will taken up the soap powder, sorry, baton?

Cheers

Gemma
