Son of Parkin
Son of Parkin
Reading my disease title for the first time after diagnosis got me thinking just who was this ‘Parkin’ and more importantly who was his son. So I decided in my mind to speculate hypothetically the origin of their name and its use today.
Did the name come from yester year when God was handing people their names out. The Lord had said that each persons name must befit his allocated task for which he had been placed on the Earth. Anyway it was late in the day and the queue for names had been long. The Lord was getting tired, worn out and wanted a bath. He saw this chap coming for his name and thought he would call in his opposite side, a Mr D’vil, took look after this poor chap.
This sickly looking gent had reached the front of the queue, just before closing time, and Mr D’vil looked at him squarely in the eyes. Deep into his sole he saw, a blackened heart, which lit up a mischievous glow in him. He thought this wirery guy could work for me bringing pain and suffering to millions. So he put it to this man that he had been having few problems outside his establishment with carrier drivers pulling in with a name on the side of Carter. This sickly chap, with blackened heart, was put to work and given a name that reflected his profession, Parkin.
So it was on that unfortunate day that the profession hated throughout the world first came to pass outside Mr D’vils establishment. Over the years he’s had many children, mainly boys, each with a heart similarly afflicted. These Sons of Parkin live on today still possessing that curse from Mr D’vil. They plague our lives across the land. Who are these people so loathed to be cursed so roundly each day?
What was the job Parkin and then his son given? Why it was ‘Traffic Warden’.
