The River
The river
She led me there
On holiday the river
In the alpine valley
Under scorching sun mid June
Flaming beats of sweat
this afternoon
Take me to the river mysterious
her river
a Virgin place for me
a valley descent in glades
in dappled shades of peace
the peace, you say nothing
you don’t have to
one confident look says enough
a gift awaits
45 minutes later
she presents a tranquil scene
a worth while treck indeed
gaze at the river pure
nature lay the seed to
ice water perfection
it licks it washes it smoothes
the pebbles and stones
and peeling we dip
on sharper stone skip
and immerse your golden skin
we are kissed, encapsulated
the river water fresh from melted snows
high up the range
and the mud marks and we play
you run, I catch, you lay down
and I kissed her upon grey stone
flat, a custom place to sleep
granite with the blazing heat tempered
by waters chill
this is the closest to peace
river lagoons release
tension, evaporate!
I am in love with this afternoon
The rushing power of water
curing, healing the shower and spray
The laughs of childful adult play
This carcophany soaks me
And those frayed nerves begin to heal
Upon my stroking hands feel
She tell’s me its alright
And that we have arrived
Yesterdays frowns are breaking down
Under rock pools a deep green blue
aqua the gorgeous word
you fit perfectly
the alpine river, a friend
she shared her secret place
the mud dried on our backs
tense muscle went slack
we slept and dreamt exhausted
She led me there
On holiday the river
In the alpine valley
Under scorching sun mid June
Flaming beats of sweat

Peter,
The love poetry you write is some of the most incredible I have read - you really should think about aiming to get these published.
I know your style is sporadic and you write about many things and you are passionate about many things - but I think maybe you should think about grouping your love poems together for a book, you'll need about 50 and then you need to pick two or three which you and others think are the absolute best and end them off to be published in one of the top magazines, once a mag has publicised you - problem is you have to research who to send it to but I'm sure the fab guys on here especially Moxy and Paul, who know a great deal about poetry - then you go onto have a few more published in magazine form - even enter some into competitions and then forget about them and when the time is right and you have had enough published in mags and maybe won or come 2nd or 3rd in a couple of national comps then you can talk to someone about a book deal.
You should aim for a reasonably well known poetry seller!
I know you have unashamedly admitted to being a performer and I know you are not particurlarly interested in being published but I think your love poems are beautiful jeweled garlands that should be shared with the world not just us WOL(ers)
You have a real gift Peter, thank you for sharing your beautiful pieces with us.
