The Ugly Tree Event at Manchester Central Lib
This gig was great fun - all of the readers were in sparkling form and it was a chance to celebrate Paul Neads's now long running publication. The audience overspilled the room somewhat and they contributed to a really nice atmosphere. The event was a lunchtime gig and as such attracted many people who would, perhaps, not otherwise attend a poetry event. I enjoyed reading there, but most importantly, I enjoyed the mix of poets and styles that I heard. I had read their works in the Ugly Tree and had heard most of them perform live before, but there were some surprises; not least of these being the ways in which their performance techniques had developed over the years.
