Want to do a spoken word/poetry show at the 2010 Edinburgh F
Dear all,
Richard Tyrone Jones here, poet on the site and ex-poem of the month winner. As some of you may know, as well as being Director of 'Utter!' I'm also Director of Spoken Word at
Peter Buckley Hill's Free Fringe at the Edinburgh festival. We've secured an EXCELLENT venue for spoken word at the PBH Free Fringe
this year - www.thebansheelabyrinth.com - in a brilliant central location on Niddry Street, with two underground rooms in Edinburgh's most haunted pub, including one with use of a cinema/projector screen.
We still have some slots to fill, so if anyone wanted to do a spoken word/poetry show at the Edinburgh Fringe with NO venue hire costs and
without losing thousands of pounds, they should get in touch with their proposal for a show, CV and samples of their work. We'll then get back
with the Terms & Conditions.
Other performers at the venue will include my night 'Utter!' spoken word, Tim Turnbull, Helen Mort and Hammer and Tongue plus local writers. Slots for the full run of 7th Aug-28th Aug are available but smaller ones from the 18th-28th are also for those who can't commit to all three weeks. My email is richardtyronejones@gmail.com
Last year I was interviewed in Three Weeks and on Lauren Laverne's BBC6 Music show, and this year we're hoping having a special spoken word venue will increase the profiles of all involved and be, though hard work, a lot of fun.
Cheers for your help!
Available slots: an afternoon slot 1230-1330, from 8th-28th Aug inclusive for the whole run, banqueting Hall, The Banshee Labyrinth.
'Half-run' slots from 18th-28th Aug, at 1450-1550 or 1710-1810 in the Banqueting Hall (50 capacity), 2145 to 2245 in the Cinema (40 capacity), or 2300 to 2400 in the cinema.
Please get back to me as soon as possible: the deadline for cheaper entry to the official Edinburgh Fringe brochure is this Friday 19th March 2010.
For more info please check out our website www.freefringe.org - Please note we are NOT to be confused with the Laughing Horse Free Festival, who do not have a spoken word section, or our quality control.
Thanks,
Richard Tyrone Jones
