wigan write out loud thurs 13/11/2008
Went to Tudor on thurs.and loved it! What an evening! Loads of variety (and loads of people!).I went with my sister Chris Yates , read my own ditty about how much I despise work and so did another John!
Stand-out poems for me were John Togher's ode to Time ,Peter Crompton's frustrations at using a self-scan till and the brilliant poem about camels always being ugly!
Can't wait for the next gig!

I was in the audience, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it, but for me that compere went a bit too far and was too judgmental of others and a bit too full of himself. It's a pity really, because the poets and the venue were high quality and it was just that one weak link that let the side down a little.

I do think perhaps the compere's introductions were firmly tongue in cheek though but I agree with you about the quality of material and the venue being fab!

It was my first time down there. Thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly John's work poem (a man after my own heart) and just the whole feel of the night. I actually liked the compere although I didn't always get what he was on about, although I did sup a bit. Shame there's no door between the stage bit and the rest of the pub.

Just having a laugh with you - I was the compere at that event.

Of course we knew all along that DG was the compere, didn't we?!
Couldn't believe John Darwin brought along a "work" poem as well! Really enjoyed it and just shows how much anger and dissatisfaction is bubbling under the surface!
We're so damn stressed!
