Biography

I have written all my life but until now, it's been related to work: reports, academic, copywriting. I now have time for creative writing, including poetry.

Letting go

Do not forget. Do not forget. For it may presage a different, Less benign forgetfulness. Instead let go sensitively and selectively Of your memories and memorabilia. Objects and objets d'art are easy. Examine each in turn, interrogate, Then consign to a you-free future That is yet suffused with a Vestige of a previous life, Preserved perhaps as a photo image. Recall, recollection and remembrance Are more problematic. But be brave. Treasure the few that Warm the heart and stir the soul, Relegate the rest to your hidden self, Away from post-Freudian probing. Let them float them away candle-lit downstream, Confident that they inform your present. Purposeful forgetfulness; catharsis; headspace. A life less ignoble, more truthful and attachment-free. And see through a glass less darkly. August 2019

Tonight, Matthew

Tonight, Matthew, I'm going to be me. Role play and face saving? Humbug. The art of artifice? Done with it. Leben und leben lassen. Live and let live. I'm gonna to be authentic. A paid-up wysiwygger. Doing my thing. Finding my voice. It may not make me Tonight's winner. But that no longer matters. August 2019
