Biography
I am a poet based in Widnes, which is just outside Liverpool and near to Warrngton. As a writer, despite bieng born and residing all my life in England, I see myself primarily as belonging to the Anglo-Irish tradition, drawing on writers like Yeats and Heaney. Other influences would be George Mackay Brown and R.S. Thomas.
Samples
Heron Beneath the gently nodding rod-tip silver fire flashes, submarine forms fold and the unfold against a painted blackness. Under the suns shrinking gaze, in the dead eels eye I have seen the death of an angry and bitter man, and ghost fictions, Excalibur’s silver hilt and the dead hand of her who wrested it from the darkness. Caught in that primal magic I have known reason lie down, reality become unhinged.
