Biography

I am a published writer from Manchester, having had work selected for print by names including Bunbury Press, and three drops press. I have performed in Manchester and the North West in various venues, getting my start through Stirred at the 3 Minute Theatre late in 2014. I have had a manuscript accepted by a publisher for my first complete collection, to be entitled 'Asylum', and am working on two other collections for future consideration. My favourite poem is 'The Affliction of Margaret' by William Wordsworth, and I'm a devoted Word Nerd. You can find more on my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/dannimatthewswriter

Samples

'The Phoenix' by Danielle Matthews The sky becomes a phoenix streaked with comets of fire thrust into the dark black of night above the grey-outlined buildings. A shimmering purple wreaks majesty across swathes of red, and the fire dances, a dervish in the oppressive black sky. Golden light touches the rooftops, a stolen glory from the far away sun long before it awakens to the theft, with the false benevolence of a flame's tip. The sky becomes a phoenix streaked with slashes of orange cutting through the dark black of night above rooftops tipped with midnight gold.
