To those who wish to rule those who wish to live: Pass the basket Blow a gasket Line the casket With flowers of rememberence The velvet touch of indifference Goodbye you say And walk away To the shadows of bewilderment The gallows of acceptance Of a fate worse than mediocrity The face if idiocracy Fire the cannons But not at me I'n not the bringer of your suffering The ringer of the surrendering bell The one who reads the eulogy Of a people who suffered from amnesia Who died from political anesthesia Rise up only to fall back down to the ground Have your soul kicked around By the boots of the false prophets The puppets of one who holds all the strings Who sings the praises Locks our cages And bids farewell to the last fleeting vision Of an open incision - bleeding our souls Releasing the hold so we can collapse Into the depression our fear brings Our anger sings but our ears are deaf to the sound We look around for a lifeboat, but none appears And we sink into the black of forgetfullness Regretful that we were blind to the light of warning Our last mourning then nothing, Where our lives used to lay, where we used to say This could never happen All hail, then flail in the sea of realization That our worst fears were better than the false words spoken by those who wish to be heard Over the sound rushing in our ears Telling us that the lie is the mask The truth will never reveal what we all know Over and done, sorry son but we couldn't save the world for you, or me.
