Eye Contact with an Alien Eye contact with an alien could mean more than a look. It could lead to a thought, or a fear, or worse – a reaction. Upon such a confrontation, What is a human to do? Avert. Abort. Abandon. Run. From what? The zap of their lasers The probes on their spaceships The discovery of their strange tongues Their deformities, their prior victims But when running isn’t an option – then what? Alert Houston of the breakage The crevice, the gap, the crack, Between outer space and earth But if bravery should set in – look through and now see. Behind what is expected there may be a reflection Of your own fears held in their expression. And now this alien, though still foreign to earth, Isn’t far from human.
