Biography

Too many people I love have died in sad and cruel ways. Too many people I love cannot love me back for tragic reasons that few would understand. I need to find a way of making sense of my life and reasons to reflect on the amazing world we live in.

Autumn Lives Some would now say that summer’s dying I prefer to say that autumn lives That tired leaves are merely lying Where they’ve fallen as a quilt which gives Some small comfort to the earth below A russett and golden eiderdown Until heaven sends a layer of snow To take its place as a winter gown As country lanes wear the trees’ best robes Hedgerows display fruits of their labour Small creatures rustle shriven leaf lobes And for myself I humbly savour The bounteous feast before my eyes As good menfolk bring home the harvest Women gather safely in what lies The light mellows to the tenderest Vision, my reward for being alive Mother nature’s need for change winning To embrace it wholly I will strive Not the end, but a new beginning Winds will grow bolder, skies will grow grey My fear grow of winter’s cruelty But whilst autumn’s beauty soothes my day I thank God for giving her to me
