I am a reader development officer for Kirklees Libraries and organise literature events including creative writing, and poetry events.

What we do

Poetry Open Mic Evenings: Write out Loud in Marsden Library We are pleased to be launching a monthly open mic session in Marsden Library, Marsden Mechanics Hall, Peel St, Marsden (HD7 6BW) on the 15th February from 7.30-9.30pm and then on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Cost £2 An open-floor poetry evening, open to all to read a poem, your own or a favourite. Also open to short story tellers, singer/songwriters, etc. Beginners encouraged and all welcome. This will be a friendly and supportive club This follows on our successes with the Poetry Jams at Marsden Jazz Festival, and the sell-out Samuel Laycock evening.
