Poetry
Hope Hidden bird in potted tree, Your joyful song echoing on concrete cliffs, Interspersed with clip-clop shoes Through silent rain And Monday blues. Workers yoked to plough through streets, Catching dead worms in blood-soaked fields, then smoking spliffs, To wake once more to morning dews, Their dark refrain: The daily news. And when I can barely speak or see And a damp silence envelops those concrete cliffs, I’ll recall the joy birdsong imbues And smile again Through sunshine hues.
