I write because I have to. Not because I want to.... Those of you beating the words into shape @ 3am know this only too well

Her wallet full of plastic Has been maxed up to the hilt Ensuring the kids Xmas is fantastic And yet She feels no guilt They have a bigger, better set of lights Than the one’s next door The ‘fridge is crammed with exotic delights Yet She still goes out for more 3 trolleys full of must haves Groan as She leaves the superstore Ignoring the beggar dressed in rags Whilst trying to find Her new 4 by 4 A contented smile across Her face plays When She finally spots it Taking up 2 disabled bays She begins to load the vintage wine And imported Belgian beer Hoping everyone will have a better time Than they did last year Then She hits the button on the sat nav That has been programmed ‘Home’ Not forgetting first of course To switch on Her limited edition mobile ‘phone She turns on the 52 inch plasma screen And opens another box of luxury mince pies When a sight She considers so obscene Is played out before Her eyes It is not a very festive thing To have to watch at this time of year All those poor people dying Thousand’s of miles from here She thinks it really is such a disgrace And something should be done As another mince pie disappears into Her face She switches over to channel 1
