The Oak Tree The Oak is bare, now, bereft of leaves, and, seemingly, of life stock still in silent Winter gloom hidden, barren and alone Birds perch and fly away the restless squirrel hunts in vain a spider hides beneath the ground dreams die, and hope seems gone Yet catkins form within those branches’ ends birds plan nests and squirrels dream of nuts the spider emerges in the lengthening days, Spring is coming

Hi Joy, welcome to WOL, like your poem here.
I organise open mic WOL nights at the Brooklyn in Bolton (3rd sunday each month - except this month we have a special event at the cadence festival in tyldesley) and as your local thought I would drop you a line!
Please see link, if you fancy coming down, will be nice to meet you, best wishes Jeff
