Biography
Julian is the co-author of 'How To Dump Your Girlfriend'. He also a regular compere of poetry shows, writes and performs his own poetry, does stand up comedy, is a workshop facilitator and a regular guest on BBC Radio Manchester. 'How To Dump Your Girlfriend' is a tongue in cheek book about ending a relationship, it has only been in existence since Feb 2008 yet has seen healthy sales figures. The book has also caught the imagination of the media, with radio shows and newspapers running interviews and articles on their stations/publications. The book will be accompanied with public readings across Britain later in the year. "A Hassle Free way to lose your lover" New Nation Compere. Julian regularly comperes poetry events, he is currently compering the 'Superheroes of Slam Poetry' which is visiting several venues across the Northwest in Feb/March08. Last year, Julian compered/refereed the poetry shows 'Love vs Lust'. He's also the regular compere of spokenword/music night Speakeasy and has previously been a guest host at Dead Good Poetry Society (Liverpool) and Reverberate (Manchester) "Aswell as being a brilliant performer in his own right, Julian is one of the best hosts around" Kim Haygarth,co-ordinator of the 'Love vs Lust' tour Comic Poet. Julian also writes and performs his own comic poems, including sets at 24 Hour Party People, at the Southbank Centre, London and Justin Moorhouse's Sunday Roast, Comedy Store Manchester. He was recently asked to write a poem about Anthony H Wilson for a show on BBC Radio Manchester (this wasn't a humourous poem). Julian has also had one of his poems 'Ham' turned into a short animation by film maker Sharon Keighley, for a BBC/Cornerhouse inniative called 'the Bigger Picture'. Julian also delivers poetry workshops and talks in schools, youth centres, the Roald Dahl Museum and for BBC Blast. He has also run workshops for more 'mature' people. Julian was also the Agony Uncle for Arts Magazine DXN. He's also a member of ideas team What4?, has presented a number of radio shows including the 3 Prong Attack and has written 2 short plays.
