Biography

Kate was born in 1988 in Spokane, Washington. She grew up as a military brat. "Yep, that's the term used for a military kid, or at least it was back in the day," says Kate. She grew up in several states along the way, Idaho being one of her favorites. The final move was to Oklahoma, where she grew to an adult and had two boys. Oklahoma was were she started to learn about poetry in school. She went on to say, "I was about 14 that year and I was learning poetry in class. At first I didn't get it at all because we were covering Haiku's. Soon after we got into the other styles I felt a connection to it. I was hooked!" After a few failed relationships that weren't the most ideal, she found her now husband Sean. "He is absolutely amazing and very supportive in all that I do," Kate raves. Not only does he show his support by helping her when stuck, he also did most of the illustrations on her first book "Open and Raw". She went on to say, "He did all the drawings and I did the editing on them, we really are a dynamic duo!" Kate continues to write when inspiration hits and has several more collections she wants to publish. "It took me a long time to get the confidence and self esteem to put myself out there. I wouldn't have done it without Sean. He really has pushed me. Sean really believes they are amazing and he now has made me start to believe it."

Kate Davis Poetry's Work

Tattooed Memories Life's moments tattooed in my memory, the feelings tattooed in my heart. When I hit replay I never know where to start. I could start from the moment I met the true world. Or I could replay when I was a young girl. Our lives are so full of moments in time. When they replay it's like listening to beautiful wind chimes. Soft and subtle, sweet and dear. All those memories collected over the years. Some more worn and tattered then others. Memories of loved ones like our sisters and brothers. Those memories etched permanently in our souls, as if they were irreplaceable scrolls. Some of those moments we hold closest to our heart, are of loved ones who have already part. Those are held higher on the chart, as if they were the most expensive art. Life's moments tattooed in my memory, the feelings tattooed in my heart. When I hit replay I never know where to start. Painful Silence The pain behind the smile no one sees. She buries it all so very deep. No one knows the torture in her soul. No one knows what she has to do to maintain control. The tears she cries inside. She has no one to confide. On her own she must be strong. No one around can know what's wrong. No one can know that inside she plays a sad song. She's so broken and no one sees. It's locked away and she's thrown away the keys. She won't let anyone around her in. All they see is the sweet fake grin. No one knows the horrors inside. Not seeing the tears she's cried. No one seeing behind the lies. No one seeing the flames beginning to rise. She's burning from the inside out. Still she refuses to shout. She's feeling like there's no choice but to conceal. No matter how horrible it truly feels. Spring Wine Beautiful flowers blooming in the spring. Loving all the colors, the blues and reds and all the green. What a scene. Sitting outside enjoying the sweet wine. Not to mention the bright warm sunshine. Seeing the grapes beginning to grow on the vine. This moment in time is so divine. There is nowhere else I'd rather be. I am sure most of you would agree. Just enjoying the mental retreat. My mind taking a backseat. The aroma is subtle and sweet. The light fragrance of blueberry in the air. My toes in the grass enjoy being bare. All life's worries melting away. In this moment wanting to stay. This is how you enjoy a beautiful spring day. and many more can be found on Kate Davis Poetry's Facebook Page, some can be found on Kate Davis Poetry's Blog on BlogSpots and I have released a book titled "Open and Raw" available as an eBook as well as paperback and hardback printed copies.
