Biography
I'm a performance poet and focus mainly on big issues within society, (usually with a humourous slant.)I perform regularly at Sticks and Stones, a poetry evening in Leeds. I was recently special guest there. I also recently performed with Brendon Mcleod at a Wicked Words event. I am doing an English Literature and Theatre Studies degree and I am also in the process of setting up an organisation called Burning Pages. It's a creative writing and drama based scheme aiming to involve the local teenagers in performance poetry. I am a member of the National Youth Theatre and relish the performance aspect of my work.

Modern Revolution. Einstein and Curie, strung up in the streets, we're burning intelligence, come and take your seats. Their ideas and fury get trampled by the feet- of the public queueing for the next copy of heat. Wordsworth and Austen's pages fuel the fire, Of Mozart's and Chopin's funeral pyre. Let's hear it for the modern revolution! Burn it all, burn it all, is the new resolution. We're dumming down T.V. and we're dimming down the lights, To ignore what we see, well, that's basic human rights... Everyone cares about hunger and strife, and everyone knows about politics and life, yet, what we're talking about is... who's in rehab, and Jade Goody's kebab, and all this nothingness, Isn't it sad?

Good evening Katie
I enjoyed this sample poem. I thought of Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" and it reads like a good performance piece. Loved 'rehab ... kebab'.
And you are making a really good point also. It seems few are able to operate outside the superficial appearance of everything these days even if they think they are above it.
Recent chat with Politics grad. 'Brown, nah he'll never win the election ... look at that jaw problem for a start and he's only got half an eye'. No mention of policies and the economic disaster.
Anyway, mwoar please.

Hello Katie
I think I saw you at this Tuesday's Wicked Words in Leeds. Didn't you open? If it was you I thought you were v good. I was the Clog-Lump that did a few couplets about Our Gert and Betty's.

the saddest thing is that this is the only sample of your work - it's good though. :)
'Tis sad, Katie, and your verse is good.
