Do I look any different then you? Do I act any different then you? Do I sound any different then you? NO I am no different than you My heart is just wired differently You tell me you accept what I "choose" But I did not "choose" This is how I was made This is my heart not my head I cannot be "cured" This is not a disease You say our nation is plagued by gays But that is who they are Saying someone can't get married because of YOUR religion Is like saying That I can't have a doughnut Because YOU are on a diet Don't look at me differently Because I have a girlfriend Don't tell me you accept my decision Treat my like I am straight Smile Shrug your shoulders And walk away If you see me kiss her in public Don't make a nasty comment If I tell you I have a girlfriend Don't say ew Just smile As you would a straight couple And walk away "God loves all his children" Is whipped from your view But you quote a book Written by a couple dozen men 3500 years ago Your priest always said "Treat other with kindness" But where does that kindness go When you see me hold her hand? Denying me my human right To love Is like me denying you Your freedom of religion Our nation was rooted Off the concept of Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness You cannot say you believe in the constitution Then tell me I can't marry a girl If I can find someone To love me And help guide me through This crazy thing called life Then I should not be denied The right to marry them Our minds remain frozen In a time where this was unacceptable But this is 2016 Don't tell me not to show my true colors I don't tell you who to love So don't do it to me
