Biography

FALLEN Clothed in stripes of grey and laid beneath a bush, We found the stranger: Open mouthed and marble-eyed, Dazed, and stretching limbs involuntarily. As we wrapped her, Bound her road-worn bag of skin and bone, I felt an echo of a sacred past, Striving to maintain a small and plain existence. Now before us, broken And constrained in towelling shroud, This warrior beast of ancient desert kings, She lay there, kneading comfort from some unseen mother. Did she know our scientific rituals - Our balms, our needles, Incantations fumed with oxygen and antiseptics, Could not conjure star-bound immortality? Did she know that we alone were all she now commanded? Whether panic, shame or indignation moved her now - At least I marked her passing, As befits a being, once believed a god.
