Biography
I'm a young South African, living in the UK. I was intent on making a career in the performing arts, but while performing Chinese opera in Shanghai I suffered acute lead poisoning. I lost the use of my legs and hands for about 18 months. Although I regained my motor control eventually, my performing career was over. Writing poetry has become my main source of artistic expression. It is a way to order experiences that are profoundly painful and disordering. Currently, I am a researcher and PhD candidate at King's College London (KCL) working in ethics, public health and emerging digital health technologies.
