Biography

I have always written what I believed to be poetry as more of a hobby. This is one of the first forums I have ever utilized to present my writing. My life has been a series of chapters that have included dropping out of college, bartending, serving in the military, reintroducing myself into college and working as a network analyst. My life has been as spontaneous as the road trips I enjoy taking during free time. Like I mentioned, the public exposure of my writing has been limited (mostly within the structured classroom essay/report format).

Cigarette on the Porch Silence fills the area around my dimly lit porch, Surrounding me with a quiet darkness Which engulfs my mind, filling it with confusion, Forcing thoughts to be lost within the shadows Lingering on the edge of what I can see, Covering up the void of things I wish I could, My eyes blinded by the bleak emptiness, Whose unwanted proximity allows despair An unfair ability to whisper repetitive reminders, Echoing realizations that my sense of direction Lies lost, hidden beyond light’s grasp, Imprisoning me to a life lived unsure, Unknowing of what is real or even worth Acknowledging with heartfelt emotions, Feelings numbed by a growing uncertainty; Life’s experiences that have molded me Making me a figment, a hazy belief, Of the person I have unwillingly become, Pushed down a path not chosen by me But made to walk it, led forward only by hope That a better existence exists beyond eyes’ view Just passed the veiling blackness left lingering As an unwelcome companion clouding sight Of a life fulfilled only in dreams, out of my reach, Leaving me alone within the ignorant acceptance That I exist with a determined willingness, The fortitude to step into the darkened unknown Moving forward through the present uncertainty, Scared but in search for the comforting glow Guiding me to the life I yearn deeply to live.
