Exploring My Mind With Words.
I Sleep With My Demons
Me #1: Who are they? Me #2: I don’t know Me #1: What are they? Me #2: I don’t know Me #1: Where are they? Me #2: Here, you don’t see them? You can’t feel them? Can you hear them? Me #1: No, tell me about them? Me #2: When I close my eyes they’re bold as brass Louder than a Drum ‘n’ Bass rave They are more active than a 10K run To you they are darker than a black hole But I see them clear as day Wherever I look, wherever I turn, wherever I hide they are there Suffocating and holding on to me so tight I can’t breathe But at the same time they comfort me They give me hope all is not as it seems They incorporate themselves into everything, everyone & everywhere To talk to me, to show me and when I open my eyes, they help me and they turn it off. Me #1: Turn what off? Me #2: My mind, the world They switch it off It’s loud, it’s fake it’s not as real as it seems Although my eyes are open I am asleep I can’t hear the noise but feel them They sit in my stomach with bags of sand, topping up the weight They cloak my body with the heavy mist They are the knife that kills me & the safety net that saves me They are my wildest dream & worst nightmare They are sunshine on a new day and the darkness on the last night They are with you but they live within me.
