Biography
Reynaldo Holmes Email: reyholmes@gmail.com Born in 1983. Raised in Coconut Grove, Florida from a Barbadian father and Puerto Rican mother. Currently reside in North Miami. Started writing poetry from the age of 11 as a source of expression and therapy from a severe stuttering disorder. After high school I was mentored by HBO Def Poet Will “da real one” Bell. With his help I gained the courage and determination to remove myself from my comfort zone and face my fears of stuttering. Eventually becoming a spoken word artist. My career for the last 11yrs has been working as a turbine operator. My passions are poetry, gardening, photography, videography and drumming. I’m a regular at numerous open mics around South Florida including: Sessions, Flo Friday’s, Flo 4 Me and Spitter’s Open Mic where I’m also there hired photographer. Passionate about social, racial and economic differences in are society. The problems plaguing are inner city neighborhood’s are very important topics to me stemming from my personal childhood experiences growing up in poverty. I like to leaving a piece of my experiences in the poems I write.
