Hey I’m Riley! A 23 year old new englander simply dumping words into the world. I’ve always enjoyed writing, specifically poetry, to better understand both the world and myself. Whether it’s just fun or has a deeper meaning to it, putting thoughts, feelings, and ideas into strategically arranged sentences makes everything a little easier to take in. Welcome to my mind i guess :)
Where the Ocean Meets the Sky
I like to imagine I'm alone on the water, with only the glistening, moonlit waves that crash around my boat, rickashay, and disappear into the darkness the further they stray it’s quiet here where i float; no sign of life near me or my boat just peaceful emptiness as I look into the wave swallowing void but i know that life surrounds me, above and below the sea places with nonstop cycles of love and harmony and death and destruction that build and break and rebuild faster than day turns to night I hope to never reach those places I like to imagine that if i start the boat into the darkness, it’ll take me to the stars that i can somehow drift away from the love and harmony and death and destruction but some force never allows me, because before I can sail into the darkness, it fades, as the sun begins to rise and the ocean meets the sky
