Biography

Poetry, yes. Hearing my grandfather recite the Bard, and my mother telling me: Rose, thou art sick. Bam! Songs of My Soul was published in 2017. Building connections and empathy through poetry inspires me. Poetic triggers: spirituality, social, cultural issues, family, womanness, nature, love. Telling the untold stories. I've just completed my first non-fiction book, which is about autism and ADHD in education.

'I am no longer in-VISIBLE' © Suzy Rowland Rigg 'REMEMBERING WINDRUSH' © Suzy Rowland Rigg ONE NINE FIVE SEVEN Crying by the sink watching mother's potato peelings shaving away like her trust falling down a flight of stairs as steep as her aspirations tumbling into blackness then climbing concrete steps the ghostly child walked up leaving her innocent self behind. Sitting in the corner of a room knowing something was wrong feeling the shame all the same lampshades being thrown shattering unspoken dreams of a Victorian childhood, waking up a lonely child to a mother alone, a future where few roses would bloom. © Suzy Rowland Rigg IT'S DARK OUTSIDE Bass music burns a fire in his soul drives darkness from salvation’s burning hole pulsing blood in reckless veins lonely beast escapes concrete cage. Music louder senses turned to low directionless wheels nowhere safe to go. Target slowly coming into view knife concealed that no-one but he knew. Life extinguished without word or fight mother’s scream wakes neighbours' sleepless night sirens blaring blue bright angel wings take flight no uniform or soldiers in this bloodless war: just children with so much life to live for. Written in despair at the lives violently lost in London so far in 2018. Feel free to share. © Suzy Rowland Rigg
