The Dark Writers

About Us
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday on the month from 7-9pm upstairs at The Coffee Stop cafe 23 Railway Road, WN7 4AA. We pay £6 per session. The Dark Writers meet at night because most of us work in the daytime. Some write for fun, some write to get things off their mind and others write because they want to be a writer. Some write poetry, some write scripts but most of them write prose. The group is led by a facilitator, creative writing tutor Julie McKiernan who is also a scriptwriter.
What We Do
We start by sharing what we have written in response to the previous week's theme (or anything else we have been working on) and give and receive positive, constructive feedback led, and prompted by, our group facilitator. We then have a short comfort break before looking at a new theme which can be anything from a simple topic (e.g. weather) to an exercise based around a particular type of writing (e.g. short stories). We write for competitions and events and have regular readings at the cafe.
All poems are copyright of the originating author. Permission must be obtained before using or performing others' poems.
