Silent Service She sought no praise from man. A quiet soul, and she served on no church committee. Rather inconspicuous, her body was frail, her movements were slow. Would she ever be missed? The frame surrendered. The pastor, and a few others, showed respect and dignity in their farewell. On Sunday morning the faithful noticed the pews were covered in dust. Confession Of An Old Man Of recent times his eyes were drawn aside To lasses with their skin so smooth and fair, Where all the tell-tale signs of age and care In ones so young, as yet, had been denied. But even so his heart was strangely warmed Whenever they would find each other near, And feelings were expressed and made quite clear A bond of love had now so strongly formed. His wife of many years was not concerned That such should stir in this grey headed boy; Was happy that an old man had this joy, And love in his old heart had freshly burned. Hello Tom. Many thanks for your kind comments on And Trio's.
I am embarrassed by the sentiments of some of the commentors who have all assumed that the piece is biographical.
I will of course explain to each, however I have not experienced a tragedy, but have merely been inspired by the potential of one.
Thank you once again for your feedback.
Very best regards,
Graham
