The World Right Now
If you were here right now,
What would you say?
I think you’d be appalled,
Shocked by the way,
This nightmare is unfolding.
A dream we can’t wake.
Why are people not listening?
Not learning from mistakes.
If you were here right now,
The news would be on repeat.
You’d support the government,
But still give them some heat.
But we’d be worried about you,
Hard for the family to stay away,
Not wanting to make you worse,
Trying to keep the virus at bay.
This isn’t a fun world to live in,
You are better off up there.
No home isolation,
Just plenty of love, smiles and care.
But your humour would be welcomed,
Your jokes a light relief.
From the scariness around us,
And the never-ending grief.
We miss you, we love you,
You are looking down from up there.
This world isn’t safe now,
So I’m grateful you are elsewhere.
