Searching
To the little girl that never thought she was beautiful
To the teenager that thought she wasn’t clever
To the young lady that craved attention
To the woman, crying, alone in the dark
You who crave the attention of many
The approval of those that mean you harm
Those that scold you and mistreat you
That abuse you and leave you bruised
Let me tell you of the one that you thought was beautiful
The one that got all the praise and attention
That every boy and man lusted for
The one you believed had it all
She was used and abused because of her body
She cried and wished she was normal
Mediocre, another face in the crowd
Her happiness only lasted for a season
Why then do you crave attention in the wrong places?
Setting your gaze on those that are of the senses
Longing for the gentle caress that will yield you trouble
The warm embrace that produce fruits you are not ready for
In my own longing, I found One who is different
In my solitude, I found one who cares
In my pursuit, I found meaning
In my search, I found purpose
He said he loved me and I believed him
My secrets did he hold close to him
His embrace brings me comfort
His voice stills my heart
He illuminated my eyes with truth
Brought in peace no Man can give
He strengthens me with his word
Courage in abundance I do hold
Fear, nowhere to be found,
His presence is all I need
His attention is all that matters
His is my Lord, the centre of my life
