Sky Watcher
I am a sky watcher day and night.
When my spirit flounders
My uplifted eyes restore it utterly.
The beauty of the sky
Opens my soul to wonderment,
As in a raindrop or a seed,
A baby's fist around your finger,
Or a solved equation.
But, somehow, more powerful.
The sheer immensity of Sky, 'Atmosphere',
Forging Life as we know it on planet Earth,
Land and sea, flora and fauna,
Is almost emotionally overpowering
In physical reality.
It's no wonder that we associate Sky
With gods or God!
And relate a 'spiritual home' with UP.
We clearly see that the dead decay,
Like any other animal or plant.
But 'Sky' inspires Imagination
And Imagination inspires Religion.
Perhaps Religion inspires 'Spirit'.
We crave the simplicity of 'Sky' and 'Up',
The physics of atmosphere really not relevant.
Humans have made Language.
Humans possess Imagination.
Humans use language to make Imagery.
Perhaps Imagery has made Religion
From Imagination.
'To make' is a high, human ideal
In any context.

Last night I was thinking of 'inspire'. The whole 'spire' chain is such a provoking concept to consider. And this is the case with so many 'developed', 'extended' word roots from ancient languages. I'm presuming I share this 'word fascination' with fellow writers. How could I not!
Which may be a bit naive.
