LOCKDOWN!
Life as we knew it, meant we could do it
Because we could, we did as we should
Knew right from wrong, joined the throng,
of whatever was our bag, a drag on a fag or
a pint in the pub, a lock in, or then on to a club
The weekends were great, a turnstile gate
of fans at the match.
The ref sounds the whistle
my seats in the middle, of the swankiest stand
Amongst some of the most dedicated
supporters in the land
Players exchange pleasantries
and actually shake hands,
before going into battle again
to the sounds of the band
A meal in town, a smile or a frown
depending on how the food went down
A glass of wine, a gin and tonic
The karaoke bar wasn’t very melodic
But nobody cared, and now we’re scared
to venture out, during the day,
or when the lights go down
Falling out over bread and milk
When we go to the shops
we sometimes get zilch.
Things changed in an instant
we now keep our distance
Two metres they say, as we kneel down
to pray, that our friends and family are ok
Can’t go to work, or buy or new shirt
unless I go online, what’s mine is yours
and yours is mine on Amazon Prime
Lockdown films, lockdown friends,
video calls stop us going round the bend.
Virtual concerts with virtual stars,
exercise Guru’s when each day starts
Got to keep going, by keeping fit
Daily exercise should cover it
On the bike that was in the shed
Anything at all but staying in bed
TV on, the internet has crashed
We’re still banged up, my head is mashed
Will life return to normal again?
Will we give hugs and kisses
and shake peoples hands?
Will we go to the gigs of our favourite bands?
One things as sure as the world spins round
We will all celebrate the end of this lockdown!

Absolutely and it actually will never be the same again because people have got used to all things virtual. That will be the norm post vaccine.
