I Wish
I wish that things were like they were before
When we pulled together with an open door
When people conversed face to face, even when dashing all over the place.
I wish that there were no mobile phones
Computers, tablets and flying drones
Like when we called round to see our friends
Or chatted to neighbours over the fence
We pulled together when things got rough
And with the support of others, we all felt tough, tough enough to make it through,
the bad times, lean times, the old and new
I wish that I could write a song, that spoke of love, right and wrong, the realisation that all that counts, is family, friends, and what we see around. Appreciation of all that’s good, I do so wish, I wish I could
Perhaps one day when life restarts, we can all look at things from within our hearts, instead of following the way we feel, and copying what’s supposed to be real
Oh I really wish with all my strength, that we can start afresh again, and perhaps this time when we all take stock , we will understand what is good and what’s not
I wish, I wish, oh I wish.
