The Pharmacology of Shadow
When sadnesses besiege you:
At the dying of the light
And starlight illuminates
The mere ending of the night.
Will you tingle in the frosted air of the privilges of sight?
Starlight is a mirror, in the water of the eyes,
When humankind, finally, abandons its disguise.
The spin and whirl of hemlock
Help the witch and Wicca sway
Under the greensward
On this beautifully rare May day
All that was dark
Is summoned by the light
For the Sigil of Baphomet’s alight.
Pentacles’ aflame
Amidst the creatures of the sky
Time and tide and starshine do not lie.
The warp and weft of weaving
A goddess into moon
Bends
Into the flow of spacetime very soon.
The Aphrodite-horizon
Of sky and sea and land —
Just watch the singularity expand
To one old, Labrador,
Who sat down by my side
And is, to my great loss, no longer alive.
