Legal Tender

Out walking I saw a fifty pence piece

On the pavement

I looked round before bending over

My lucky day but

Trying to prise the thing free

Not knowing it was superglued I

Did my back in.

After lying up a few days I returned with a crowbar

In a carrier bag but

The coin was gone

Now I glue them to the

Path outside my window

Its great fun watching folk trying to

Lever one free

Old ladies are best

On their knees

Sweating

The lengths they go to, sometimes

Coming back when its dark with

Useless tools, a mole wrench or a

Hacksaw I'm half-expecting an

Angle grinder

By rights I should film them and though

I've lost five already

Its worth it for

I laugh fit to bust, though

The neighbours are starting to wonder and

I have to watch my back which is still

Tender
