IT'S CUMMINGS' HOME

entry picture

(On the altar of poetic licence I have sacrificed the grammatically correct "Cummings's" for the grammatically incorrect "Cummings')

It’s Cummings’ Home

It’s Cummings’ Home

That farm was Old Man Cummings’ Home

(*2)

Talk about staying in your home

Don’t go out and don’t roam

Isolate on your own

You’re instructed to keep in confines

Or else risk a fine

Unless you’re this swine

Whose attitude is

“Laws for me get quashed

They are just applying

To The Great Unwashed

They must be complying.

Talk about graft in politics

The worst example it’s

This hypocrite

As now we see him brazenly stare out

Publicity’s glare

Cos Cummings don’t care while he’s still thinking

“You at home are stuck

With fever coughs and sneezes

But I don’t give a fuck”

He does as he pleases.

Talk about relatives who die

No chance to say Goodbye,

Hold their hand as we cry;

But we were told to follow advice

Stay inside your high rise

Pay a terrible price

But not for Cummings

He got in his car

Not for him this hassle

Waved us all ta-ta

Drove to Barnard Castle

It’s Cummings’ Home

It’s Cummings’ Home

That farm was Old Man Cummings’ Home

Talk about Barnard Castle’s ride

Well, laugh?  I nearly cried

So plain that he lied;

And Boris thinking “This is a wreck

Now it’s all out of check

But I’m up to my neck

Supporting Cummings:

I can’t sack him now

This is not good timing

I’ve backed him in this row

I need him resigning”

But he’s played you for a clown

Holding up two fingers

As still he doubles down

Bare-faced as he lingers

“It’s Cummings’ home

My old man’s home

That farm was Old man Cummings’ home”

We don’t believe (*4)

It may be many things, Po, but masterpiece is not one of them. Thanks for the compliment, though.
