Chasing Sunsets

entry picture

Chasing sunsets,

The ones that shine brightest

Only to disappear

And return again

But never in the same light

Never seen the same way

These eyes tell me, don’t look away

Before it too is gone too soon

Thanks, Cynthia for your comment and sharing your story. I totally agree with that boy’s sentiment. Enjoy every sunset while you can.

Splendidly put. Totally true.

When I was tutoring in Bermuda, I had a lad, thirteen maybe, beside me at the teaching table. I glanced out the window. The sunset was splendid. I just stood up and stepped outside. And then I called out to the boy, 'Come, and see the sunset. Math is amazing and we need it. But nothing is more wonderful than a sunset, and we need that too.' And we stood there together, wrapped in scarlet sky.

I often wonder if he ever watched a sunset again. Maybe he does.
