QUESTION

QUESTION

at night
i question
the time
we spent

for me it
was a moment
for you it
came and went

those morning
whisperings
did they mean
anything

echoed my words
like a parrot
affection a
dangling carrot

tried to reach out
and grab it
dropped me like
a bad habit

made love
with passion
following day
fell out of fashion

tossed
aside
like yesyerday's
headline

called me your
best friend
guess you forgot
to hit send

not a call
or text
since you moved
onto next

thought i
was more
than just
another score

music we
made
was a familiar
play

the heart
aches
when expectations
are great

wish i could
freeeze time
still shot
in my mind

wanted to
ask
about those
old photographs

just wanna
know
was it only
a pose

find it hard
to believe
it was smoke
and pageantry

cuz the pictures
of you and me
tell a different
story

if it's that easy
to mistake
the real
from fake

then how can
i trust
memories
of us

or anything
you say
about what
we made
