A sad and happy reunion

Jane was adopted at a very early age.

Her birth mum,an actress, with no work on the stage,

Became homeless and onto the streets went,

Made a living begging in Margate Kent.

Jane was fortunate her upbringing was stable,

She shone at school became bright and able.

To an university in Kent Jane went,

Qualified as a doctor and to a hospital went.

Jane decided to try and  track down her birth mother,

Contacted the adoption agency and found out she had a brother.

Her mum had given birth to a son before her,

He had been adopted by a family in Manchester.

The agency gave her the adoption address up there,

What had happened to them both ,she was eager to share.

It turned out he was now a vicar at a Manchester church,

This was a really happy outcome to her search.

They chatted for hours and hours,

But sadly on their mum's grave they laid flowers.

To the graveyard in Margate they had both gone,

With her newly found brother a vicar called John.

John had traced their mother last year,

Said,"She died on the streets homeless,I fear !"
