The Surfers Smile
There is no reward in this life without sacrifice,
You’ll never know joy until you’ve known pain,
All rivers flow to the oceans, even those made of ice,
Waters still fall from the sky, though they may not be rain,
The day will make way for the night,
But dawn will come round again,
To scatter it’s cascading light,
On those with the strength to remain,
And as for the mysteries of life,
None can truly explain,
But ours is both rapture and strife,
And so they will ever remain,
The tsunami as high as a mile,
Will make most prepare for the grave,
Only the surfer will smile,
At the chance to ride such a wave,
So gird your loins, carve your will in stone,
Bravely face all that comes your way,
Abandon all fear, embrace the unknown,
And rejoice in the dawn of each day
