Thank you for the memories
As I stepped into adolescence
I used to spend hours, daydreaming,
the perfect love, the perfect life
walks among raindrops
slow stepped waltz
piggyback rides and, winks caught off guard.
Then, life happened.
the zest for life, escaped from the windows of the mind
the daydreams, stayed dreams
belief in love simply vanished
Then you came along
with careless sweet talks
toothy grins and carefree ways,
umbrellas shared and books swapped
even walks in the rain, got checked
with ghosts of teenage dreams lingering in the background
you gave a glimpse of what could have been
though it never could be
Thank you for all the memories
ticked off my teenage dreams.
