Oddest Couple Paired
yes, you and i have started to fuck each other
we both made it clear that we are not lovers
but whatever the case
we still made it to fourth base
it was a strange attraction
that drove me to distraction
when i saw you propping up the bar
and i did wonder if i could get very far
we bonded over the same music
went over to the jukebox and decided what song to pick
we danced ironically to there is a light that never goes out
to be inside you just made me want to shout
we got home and did the dirty work
a night inbetween
your thighs was just a little perkand before you laughed about one night flings
just being pithily little things
but then you noticed the horse shoe shaped burn on my arm
and questioned me about physical harm
i just laughed and said it was accidental
anything else but purposeful
you then told me to look at your thin little wrists
and told me of stories of epileptic fits
you ask why i was scarred
whilst quickly throwing your arms around me, protecting me like a guard
i'm not the only one you tell my face
stroking my hair, telling me i'm in a safe place
you tell me to be honest
i look you in the eyes and a tell you about my the part in my life that was the hardest
that night, instead of just a drunken fuck
we started to read each other like a book
a free session with a therapist
and it all started with one little kiss
the morning we wake in a pool of sweat tears and cum
to the smell of sex and rum
now it's time to decide on what paths we both take
shall i be truthful or fake
i pace around the bed with a fast gait
asking myself if this is just blind fate
love striking down like a thunder storm
crashing on my heart making it warm
you smile towards me
and hand me over a cup of tea
no words are shared
we were the oddest couple paired

Note : Not a true story. Thought it would be truly romantic to find love from one very personal subject matter (self-harm) and forming a bond over it. And one night stands are always fun to write about, aren't they!! yay

I like the idea behind this poem Josh but it reads like it needs a bit more work (I HATE it when people say that to me, so feel free to gnash your teeth!) There are a few typos. I like bits of it a lot, and the last verse is nice but would scan better for me if you said "we were the oddest couple ever paired." But maybe not! And maybe she should be propping up the bar not propped up the bar? If you are going to perform at open mics this might be a good one to read out. Also, when you read stuff out you get a better idea of the rythm etc.. But do feel free to ignore your old Auntie Ann!
